Polk Capt. Richard Hicks says the prison's
staff was called together 26 years ago and told of plans to close the prison.
Proposals have been made several times over the years to close Polk. As a result, a number of modular buildings and shelters were used to meet the prison's needs. The modular buildings to the left housed the prison's mental health and dental units. The shed below housed maintenance staff. |
