Lanesboro Correctional Institution is a 1,000 cell, high security prison facility located adjacent to Brown Creek Correctional Institution and Anson Correctional Center in Polkton, NC. The prison is named for the nearby community of Lanesboro.

The prison has a staff complement of 403 employees including correctional officers, administrators, food service, medical, dental and maintenance workers.

Lanesboro has a standard operating capacity of 864 close-custody male inmates, with 128 segregation cells and 8 health care beds. The first inmates arrived in January 2004.

(Effective Friday, October 1, 2004 Lanesboro Correctional Institution will be scheduling visitation by appointments only.)

Monday - Thursday and Saturdays from 8:15 a.m. -10:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

--STG and Control Status inmates will visit as follows:

Fridays 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Appointments for visits may be scheduled Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Special Visits are initiated by the inmate by sending a request to the Unit Manager. The Unit Manager will forward request to the Asst. Superintendent for Custody/Operations for approval. The visitor must be on the inmate's visitor list in order to visit.

Directions: Hwy. 1 South to Rockingham, take Hwy. 74 West through Wadesboro. Turn left approx. 6 miles west of Wadesboro on Prison Camp Rd. Turn left on Old Prison Camp Rd. Turn into the 2nd paved drive on the right leading to the institution.
