Washington Named Judicial District Manager for 9B

Oxford - Oxford native Royster Washington was recently named probation and parole manager for Judicial District 9B. He will be in charge of probation and parole offices in Franklin, Vance, Warren and Granville counties.

"Royster Washington is a career state employee who has been an excellent worker throughout his 20 years of service to the state," Correction Secretary Mack Jarvis said. "His good work habits extend to an active community service life. He will make a good manager."

Washington began working for the Department of Correction in 1977 as an adult probation and parole officer. He became an intensive officer in 1994, and was quickly promoted to chief probation officer that same year.

A graduate of Oxford High School and Wake Forest College, Washington and his wife, Isabel, have two children. He is on the Board of Directors for the Granville Medical Center, a deacon in the Oxford Baptist Church, and active in many civic groups such as the local historical society.
