JDM QUIETLY GOES INTO RETIREMENT

By Glenn Mills

Goldsboro - There were no fireworks or speeches last month in District 8B. At the request of retiring Judicial District Manager Bill Jones, it was business as usual. Jones believed that an employee should give an honest day’s work for his pay and Jones’s daily job performance always reflected this belief.

Jones’s colleagues admired his quiet and unselfish personality. He could be counted on to give good advice based on his three decades of experience. Jones began his DOC career in 1965 as a probation and parole officer in Lenoir County. He was always considerate of others and tried to avoid any limelight or recognition. His genuine concern for his family, friends, and coworkers was obvious.

Jones’s final request before leaving DOC was that he be allowed to quietly say goodbye to his staff and coworkers. His wish was honored.
