Probation and Parole Chief Promoted

Goldsboro - A Goldsboro probation and parole chief was selected to manage District 8B, Wayne County, for the Division of Adult Probation and Parole. Jennifer Heath began working in her new position Jan. 2.

A native of Lenoir County, Heath has worked for the Department of Correction since 1981. She is a 1977 graduate of South Lenoir County High School in Deep Run. Heath went to the University of North Carolina in 1977 on a basketball scholarship. There, she earned a B.S. degree in criminal justice. She also played volleyball for the Tarheels.

Heath began her career working in Greenville on the federally-funded Community Adjustment Training Program. She soon moved to Halifax County where she became a court intake officer. In 1985, Heath transferred to Goldsboro to work as a probation and parole officer, becoming head of that office in 1994.

Heath and her husband, Arba Godwin, have one child, six year-old Lindsey.
