Black Mountain Correctional Center for Women
prisoners help renovate home

Prisoners and prison staff of the minimum security Black Mountain Correctional Center for Women are joining with community volunteers the week of August 24 to renovate a home in the community. This is the eighth year the prison has worked with Prison Fellowship volunteers in a community service project to help an area family.

Prison superintendent Renae Brame says correction staff, ten inmates, Prison Fellowship volunteers and Baptist men and women will renovate a home on Dyer Road. They will build a new front porch, raise and secure sagging flooring, replace siding, make electrical repairs, clean the house thoroughly and paint it inside and out.

As in the past eight years, meals will be coordinated by Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries and prepared by churches in the Swannanoa Valley area. Prisoners will take part in celebration on completion of the project Friday, August 28 at 6 PM. Richard Payne of Prison Fellowship will speak at the celebration.
