Funeral services planned for correctional officer killed in traffic accident
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30 for Correctional Officer David Anthony of Iredell Correctional Center.
The funeral is planned for 11:00 AM at Sandy Springs Baptist Church.
Anthony was killed when he was struck by tandem wheels that suddenly became detached from an 18-wheeler flat-bed truck. The accident ocurred shortly before noon Tuesday while Anthony and another correctional officer supervised a medium security road squad along Interstate 77 near Lake Norman. The State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Anthony of Harmony had been employed by the department for ten years. Iredell Correctional Center is a medium security adult male prison at Statesville.
