Kim Barnes, a PPO I, spends a lot of tiem in the court room. She said working court takes up a lot of time because you do a lot of sitting around and waiting for your cases to come up. Andy Conner is an intensive officer. He said intensive probation is a last ditch effort to help people in the community rather than sending them to prison. Dawn Baughman (L) and Barry Alston (R) are both PPO IIs and Steve Ginter is an intensive case officer for Judicial District 15. Mark Atklins is a PPO II. He has been with district 15 A for five years. he said he likes field work, but he dislikes dogs. "They can sense when people are nervous," he saiud. atkins was a criminal justice major at UNC-Wilmington. He completed an internship with probation while in school and decided that's what he wanted to do for a living.
