EXECUTION DATE SET FOR MARCUS CARTER

 

RALEIGH -- Correction Secretary Theodis Beck has set Nov. 22 as the execution date for Death Row inmate Marcus L. Carter. The execution is tentatively scheduled for 2 a.m. at Central Prison.

Carter, 32, was convicted in Wayne County Superior Court in 1990 of the attempted rape and murder of Amelia Renee Lewis. Her body was found in an alley in downtown Goldsboro on Dec. 18, 1989. Carter was sentenced to death for the murder and also sentenced to ten years in prison for attempted 2nd degree rape.
