Graduation certificates handed out at Neuse Correctional Insitution

GOLDSBORO - A total of 71 graduation certificates were awarded to inmates for completion of various educational programs during graduation ceremonies at Neuse Correctional Institution on Nov. 29.

Nine inmates received their GED certificates. Other honorees received certificates for completion of Computer/Employment Readiness day and evening class (17), Character Education (10), Naploeon Hill (10), Parenting Class (20), and Think Smart Certification (5).

Correction Secretary Theodis Beck told the graduates and other honorees that life can be what you want it to be. He said that "no one can make you feel inferior unless you let them and that prison is no excuse for failure".

Beck also told the graduates and honorees that they have the power, will, and determination to overcome obstacles and the power to succeed. He said the three keys to success are: education, training, and moving to the head of the class. After the very inspirational speech, Secretary Beck fellowshipped with inmates, families, program, administrative and custody staff.

Mr. Joe Lofton, Eastern Region Director, and Wayne Community College staff also attended the ceremony.
