INMATE DIES AT PENDER CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION

 

BURGAW - Inmate David Jordan Jr. died Wednesday morning at Pender Correctional Institution from an apparent suicide. His body has been transported to the regional medical examiner's office in Jacksonville, N.C. to determine the exact cause of death.

Jordan, 29, was serving a life sentence without possibility of parole. In February 1999, he was convicted of first-degree murder in Durham County for the 1997 shooting death of Shamonia Hill.

The Burgaw Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation are investigating Jordan's death.
