Department of Correction to Honor Probation/Parole and Community Supervision Officers of Year Eight employees from throughout the state will be honored as Department of Correction Probation/Parole and Community Supervision Officers of the Year during a ceremony at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 18. The ceremony will be held at Correction’s Office of Staff Development and Training, 2211 Shieffelin Road, Apex. Gov. Michael Easley has proclaimed July 16-22 as Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Officers’ Week for 2006, recognizing over 2,000 community corrections officers who supervise more than 118,000 criminal offenders in North Carolina communities. The officers are being cited for various accomplishments, including their dedication to helping offenders, efforts in community policing, personal service to their communities, outstanding contributions to the department and service above and beyond the call of duty. Presiding over the ceremony will be Deputy Secretary Tracy Little and Division of Community Corrections Director Robert Lee Guy. The officers to be honored and their work locations are:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. From Raleigh, take US1 South to Exit 96 (Ten Ten Road). At Ten Ten Road, turn left. About 0.1 mile, turn left on Schieffelin Road. In about 1 mile will be a sharp curve to the right. Immediately after the curve, you will see a water tower and OSDT on the right. Drive past the water tower and turn right into the student parking lot. Enter the building from this parking lot and sign in at the desk.
2. From south of Raleigh, take US1 North to Exit 95 (Hwy. 55 West). At Hwy 55, turn left. At the second traffic light, turn right onto James St. Travel on James St. to Schieffelin Road and turn right. After about 0.2 mile, you will see the OSDT building on the left. Turn left into the Student Parking Lot before the water tower. Enter the building from this parking lot and sign in at the desk.
3. From west of Raleigh on Interstate 40, take exit 293 onto US 64 East / US 1 South. Travel on US 1 South to Exit 96 (Ten Ten Road). Follow directions from #1 above.
4. From east of Raleigh on US 64 West, follow US 64 through Raleigh to Interstate 40. Take exit 293 onto US 64 East / US 1 South. Travel on US 1 South to Exit 96 (Ten Ten Road). Follow directions from #1 above.
