Foothills Correctional Institution inmate dies

MORGANTON – Inmate Wesley Huntley, 31, was found unresponsive on a bathroom floor at Foothills Correctional Institution’s minimum custody unit Saturday night at approximately 9:15 p.m.  Huntley was transported to Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory where he died at 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

Huntley was serving a 1-year, 4-month sentence for forgery, worthless checks and possession and use of drug paraphernalia.  He was convicted in New Hanover County.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Department is investigating this death.  Inmate Huntley’s body will be transported today to the medical examiner’s office for autopsy.
