RALEIGH - Charlotte Correctional Center inmate Steve Dobie was captured by Division of Prisons correctional officers Monday at approximately 8:30 p.m. at an apartment complex off West Blvd. in Charlotte.  He had failed to return from his work release assignment earlier in the evening.

Dobie, 47, is a habitual felon serving a maximum sentence of eight years and nine months.  He was due to be released in February 2008.  When he did not return to the prison unit at 4:30 p.m. Monday official initiated escape procedures.

He is now in segregation at Charlotte Correctional Center and will be charged with felony escape.
