Training set for community partners fighting recidivism RALEIGH - Leaders and staff members of community agencies that target recidivism will be learning new approaches at a three-day conference beginning Wednesday at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Raleigh. The Criminal Justice Partnership Program (CJPP) Training Institute, with the theme Partnership for Success, is designed to educate, motivate and support community-based efforts to correct illegal behavior without imprisonment. National and statewide experts in community-based alternatives are scheduled to speak and lead workshops that help address the problem of rising prison populations. Presenters will cover numerous aspects of behavior modification, drug and alcohol addiction treatment and prison inmate transition and re-entry into society. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Faye Taxman, a George Mason University professor who runs the Advancing Correctional Excellence (ACE!) initiative. The scope of community corrections, which includes local agencies that serve 95 counties, will be evident at the conference, according to Robert Lee Guy, director of the N.C.
