Bladen escapee captured

ELIZABETHTOWN – A 32-year-old inmate who walked away from Bladen Correctional Institution was captured by Department of Correction and local law enforcement officers Tuesday about 5 p.m.

Hieu T. Bui, (#0559252) walked away from his dorm and scaled a fence about 11:20 a.m.  Acting on a tip from a local resident, officers located the escapee less than a mile from the facility in a ditch along state Route 701.

Bui was serving a 6-month misdemeanor sentence for communicating threats.  He has been charged with misdemeanor escape.
