Inmate captured after escape from work assignment

MARION – A minimum-custody inmate who walked away from his work assignment about 9:30 Friday morning was captured nearly two hours later about two miles from the Marion Correctional Center.

Robert W. Herrmann, 32, (#0524263) is serving a five-year seven-month to seven-year nine-month sentence as a habitual felon.

Correctional officers and a McDowell County sheriff’s deputy captured Herrmann without incident at a convenience store on Harmony Grove Road.
