Division of Prisons names new leader for support services

 RALEIGH - Cynthia Bostic has been promoted to assistant director of support services, leading auxiliary and program services in the Division of Prisons.

Among the activities in DOP Support Services are inmate classification, diagnostics (processing), disciplinary hearings, identification, operational and technical, education, standards and audits, inmate construction and work programs, case management and volunteers.

Bostic had been Central Region operations manager since 2003. She began working in the Department of Correction in 1988 as a correctional officer at N.C. Correctional Institution for Women, rising through the ranks to superintendent at Raleigh Correctional Center for Women and briefly to acting region director.

A graduate of St. Augustine’s College, Bostic has a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice. She is also a graduate of the Correctional Leadership Development Program, the state’s Certified Public Manager Program and the National Institute of Corrections’ Women’s Leadership Program.

She serves on the boards of the Society of Certified Public Managers and Wake Health Services.
