Escaped inmate from Dan River Prison Work Farm captured

YANCEYVILLE – Inmate Phillip w. Brewer, who escaped from Dan River Prison Work Farm sometime after 2 p.m. on Saturday,  was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Saturday in a church parking lot about two miles from the Dan River Prison Work Farm.

Brewer, 45, is believed to have left the prison by scaling a fence. 

 He is serving a three-month misdemeanor sentence for obtaining property by false pretenses and was scheduled for release May 21.

Dan River Prison Work Farm is a minimum-security prison housing approximately 620 male inmates.
