Missing inmate captured in Anson County

POLKTON - Inmate Brian Knotts, who walked off Sunday night from his work release job at a Union County chicken processing plant was captured early this morning after he was found driving a stolen car in Anson County.

A sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle around 3:30 this morning on Brown Creek Church Road near Wadesboro.  The deputy discovered the vehicle was stolen and the driver ran from the scene.  Officers from the Division of Prisons Fugitive Squad used bloodhounds to track Knotts from the scene of the traffic stop and captured him a short time later.

Knotts was a work release inmate assigned to the minimum-security unit at Brown Creek Correctional Institution in Polkton.  He worked at the Pilgrim’s Pride plant in Marshville and is believed to have stolen the car from near the plant.
