Escaped inmate captured in Moore County

Inmate Keith Sharod Moore #0934604, who escaped from the minimum-security unit at Morrison Correctional Institution in Hoffman on Jan. 14, was captured this evening by NCDOC officers.

Throughout the day, NCDOC officers and local police had been following leads related to Moore’s whereabouts in the Aberdeen/ Southern Pines area.

Around 7 p.m., DOC officers spotted Moore on foot and took him into custody without incident.

Moore, 21, was serving 8-10 months for possessing stolen goods. He entered prison in November 2010 after being convicted in Caldwell County. He will now face charges for escape and other crimes he may have committed while on the run.
