Family Day at Wake Correctional Center

RALEIGHWake Correctional Center will offer inmates and their families a day of relationship building and fun during Family Day at Wake Correctional Center on Sunday, June 12.

Families will participate in a wide range of events designed to open a dialog and begin the process of healing, reconciliation and recognition.   Music will be provided by the Wake Correctional Center band and choir.

“Family Day provides an opportunity for inmates to reintegrate with their families, thereby providing a smoother transition to their communities in an effort to reduce recidivism. Wake Correctional Center is providing that positive transition opportunity,” said Superintendent Kenneth Royster.

Royster said the event is provided at no cost to the taxpayer since inmates raise funds through various events during the year.

The event is not open to the public for security reasons. For additional background information or to schedule interviews call Lateisha Thrash, Wake Correctional Center Assistant Superintendent for Programs, at (919) 733-7988.
