Parker Begins Full-Time Retirement

RALEIGH- Ken Parker said he was headed for the hills. The North Carolina mountains were his first vacation destination with the start of his full-time retirement, effective June 30. He officially retired last fall after 25 years in Research and Planning, but has been working part-time under contract.

As manager of Research and Planning, Parker was instrumental in helping chart the course for the Department. He helped in projecting the number of prison beds needed, calculated probation trends and answered numerous questions on offender statistics, among many other important projects.

Parker, who lives in Raleigh with his wife, plans to take classes at Duke University and continue his volunteer duties with his homeowner’s association. You may also see him around the Department once a month when he sits on a committee that reviews proposed research using inmates as subjects.
