Get enrolled in NC Flex now

NCFlex annual enrollment is going on now through Nov. 9. During annual enrollment employees make changes to all accounts including enrolling, withdrawing, adding/subtracting dependents and changing deduction amounts.

Health Care Spending Accounts and Dependent Care Accounts do not automatically roll over year to year. You must designate each year how much money you want put into these two accounts.

What’s new for 2001?

CompDent has been appointed the new dental carrier for NCFlex. The new dental options are effective January 2001. Employees can choose a Low Option or High Option (High Option includes orthodontic coverage).

UNUM AD&D coverage will have new rates. (Example: Employee only coverage was 80 cents a month for $50,000 coverage. It will be increasing to.90 cents a month.) Beginning in 2001 if your employment ends with state government, you can keep your AD&D coverage as a personal policy.

NCFlex booklets will be delivered to every location that has a benefits representative. Each employee is to receive a booklet. The deadline for submitting Flex Enrollment forms to your benefits representative is Nov. 9. NCFlex coverage is on the calendar year schedule. Therefore, changes made during enrollment period will go into effect Jan. 1, 2001.

Participation in NCFlex is on a pre-tax basis. Ask your benefits representative how to use this tax shelter to your advantage or you can call Cathrine Garner at (919) 716-3700.
