By Keith Acree

Shane EllisYANCEYVILLE- After 25 years at Caswell Correctional Center, Shane Ellis has stepped across the street to become superintendent at Dan River Prison Work Farm effective Oct. 1.

"Shane has been an outstanding manager and leader for many years at Caswell," said Secretary Theodis Beck. "I know his professionalism and experience will serve him well as he takes on this new challenge at Dan River."

Ellis has spent his entire Correction career at Caswell, starting as a correctional officer in 1976 and rising through the ranks to lieutenant in 1990. After serving as lieutenant for only three months, he was promoted to assistant superintendent for custody and operations.

Ellis is excited about his move up and over to Dan River and says he's looking forward to working with the staff, the local community and with DOC administration. "It will take all of us working together to accomplish our goals," he said.

Ellis and his wife Delma have two sons, Shane, 20, and Casey, 8. The Ellis family keeps busy with Casey's soccer games and with many church activities.
