Controls, Restraints & Defensive Techniques

The Controls, Restraints & Defensive Techniques Instructor Training Program consists of a two week eighty (80) hour block of instruction. This is an advance program which includes training instructors in the essential concepts, knowledge and skills directly related to the delivery of the Controls, Restraints & Defensive Techniques Programs for Department of Correction employees. This program will provide for specific Controls, Restraints & Defensive Techniques Certification requirements as stated by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.

The course will certify Controls, Restraints & Defensive Techniques Instructors to teach Department of Correction employees how to use controls, restraints & defensive techniques in the correctional setting. Due to the demands and rigors of this training, candidates should be in good physical condition and proficient in their Basic and In-Service training should be strong or preferably above average.
