The In-Service section of OSDT has a variety of different services related to the training of departmental employees. In-Service develops and delivers training programs based on both mandatory requirements and training needs as requested by the Divisions. Training coordinated by In-Service is conducted throughout the state. The section provides support to the Field Training Coordinators and others who are responsible for training in their areas. In-Service is contacted on a continual basis for technical guidance and consultation relating to staff training needs. Another role this office performs is evaluation of training, which involves the actual evaluation of training programs, products and instructors.

The In-Service section receives all training requests from departmental employees who are attending non-departmental sponsored training both in state and out-of-state. The In-Service section handles the processing, notification and filing of these requests.

When employees receive training, a training record is developed and the employee receives full credit for that approved training. Maintenance of training records is a service provided by the In-Service section.
