3/19/1999 - Gaston County Superior Court Judge Timothy Patti issues a stay, halting the scheduled execution of Larry D. Williams.

Death row inmate Larry D. Williams is scheduled for execution Friday, April 9, 1999 at 2 AM at Central Prison in Raleigh.

Williams was convicted June 13, 1980 in Gaston County Superior Court in the shotgun slaying of Gastonia convenience store employee Eric Joines on June 2, 1979. Williams was also convicted in Cabarrus County Superior Court on Feb 21, 1980 in the shotgun slaying of Concord convenience store employee Susan Verle Pierce on that same night.

Larry Darnell Williams
