NETWORK SERVICES

The Integrated Network Services has a Mission Statement of its own: ‘To Provide productivity enhancing computing and telecommunications tools to DOC personnel so they may communicate effectively regardless of geographic location.’

The Integrated Network Services Team (consisting of 30 employees, 19 full-time and 11 temporaries) is dedicated to providing installation, maintenance and service support in computing and telecommunications needs (data, voice and video) for all 19,000+ clients located in over 400+ locations throughout the State.

With the ever changing personal computing and network technologies, it is the responsibility of the Network Section to be leaders, through research and development, in the selection of both hardware and software; and correctly position the Department for any future technology as it comes along. Another aspect of INS is that of a consulting role, to listen to the client’s needs and provide them with the most technological and economical means of solving their problems, while at the same time preserving the Department’s core infrastructure. Local Area Networks (LAN’s) have changed and matured in a multitude of directions. It is the responsibility of INS to design and engineer these networks, always keeping some of the following items in mind: distance, type of cabling (existing and needed), conduits and the overall business requirements for that facility.
