Sgt. Alfred Pemberton prepares to turn his post in the main control room over to Officer William Britt . Pemberton worked at Morrison for 10 years, Southern minimum for six years, and has been working second shift since January. Sgt. James F. Roark has been working third shift for the past 17 years, saying he’d rather be at the prison when it’s quiet. Officer Harold Hurley checks the inside perimeter of the fence at the Southern minimum unit. He said he started working four months before his twin brother, Darrell, started working at Southern CI.
