Prison industry trainer Mary Wilson teaching
prisoners to cut bolts of cloth.

Prisoners from Sanford Correctional Center take the bus to work each morning. They ride to Moore County where they work in a Correction Enterprises cut and sew shop making T-shirts.

Prisoners sent to work at the plant first spend time with Mary Wilson. "I explain the operation of the machine to them. Then I give them material and let them get the feel of the machine, how to feed the material and press with their foot," Wilson said. "When they’re smoothly sewing, then I’m ready to put them to work."

One of the first tasks they're assigned is cutting cloth.
