"We had to tear out walls, reframe
it, put in sheet rock and rework the electrical and HVAC
for the area," said John Vandiford, the maintenance director at the medium security prison in Goldsboro. "Ninety percent of the work on this project has been done with the labor of eight inmates. They’ve done the carpentry, plumbing, electrical and heating and air conditioning." O'Konek says the new medical services area will help the nursing staff work more efficiently and effectively. |
