Office of Transition Services
Historical Overview of NCDOC NC DOC Transition and Reentry Model
|
The Office of
Transition Services (OTS) was created in September of 2006 by Secretary
Theodis Beck. This office was created in response to the overwhelming need
to support offenders as they transition from prison to community, throughout
the period of community supervision and after supervision ends. The Office
of Transition Services is responsible for the coordination of all internal
activities related to transition and reentry. OTS provides assistance to
internal and external stakeholders in developing policies and procedures,
shaping new programs and providing training for staff in effective
transition and reentry. This office serves all divisions of the department,
often facilitating inter-divisional projects, evaluating and revising
policies and procedures, and planning or implementing new departmental
initiatives related to transition. |
