Department of Correction to honor outstanding employees

APEX - Fourteen employees from throughout the state will be honored as nominees during the Department of Correction Employee of the Year ceremony Wednesday. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. and will be held at the Office of Staff Development and Training, Room # 235, 2211 Schieffelin Road.

The employees were nominees for the Governor’s Award of Excellence. They are being recognized for various accomplishments, ranging from acts of heroism to outstanding service to the Department and their communities.

The employees being honored are: Lt. Larry Bass, Sampson Correctional Institution in Clinton; Susan Beebe, Division of Prisons Education; John Blalock, Division of Prisons Security; John R. Brown, Division of Prisons Health Services; Officer Jeffery Clark, Blue Ridge Youth Center in Newland; Anita Culbreth, Division of Community Corrections Victim Services in New Bern; Chaplain Mike Dew, Fountain Correctional Center for Women in Rocky Mount; Sgt. Daniel Efird, Randolph Correctional Center in Asheboro; Probation/Parole Officer Gary Golding, Mt. Airy; Sid Harkleroad, Marion Correctional Institution; Officer Richard David Miller, Lumberton Correctional Institution; Capt. Ricky Rivenbark, Pender Correctional Institution in Burgaw; Russell Smith, Pender Correctional Institution; and Nicole Sullivan, Research and Planning.

Directions: Take U. S. 1 south toward Apex. Take Ten Ten Road exit. Turn left off ramp. Stay straight on Ten Ten Road, which becomes Center Street. Turn left onto Schieffelin Road.
