CENTRAL PRISON INMATE DIES OF APPARENT SUICIDE

RALEIGH – A Wilson County man housed at Central Prison died this afternoon as the result of an apparent suicide.

The body of Keith Moore, 40, was found hanging inside a cell in the C Block housing area at approximately 4:35 p.m. He was pronounced dead by medical staff at 4:47 p.m. A note was found among Moore’s possessions.

Moore was admitted to Central Prison on Sept. 28, 2000 as the result of a probation revocation for an embezzlement conviction. Moore also faced multiple pending charges in Wilson County including two counts of first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon in the September deaths of his former wife and former girlfriend, and the shooting of his toddler son.

The State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the case, as is standard procedure following such incidents.
