Three correctional officers charged with sexual misconduct
RALEIGH- Following today’s questioning by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) at the North Carolina Correctional Institution Women, three male correctional officers have been arrested and charged with sexual misconduct.
The following officers were charged:
Wendell Borom, 35
Sexual activity by a custodian – 3
counts
Gregory Thomas, 37
Sexual activity by a custodian – 1
count
Stacey Hester, 32
Sexual activity by a custodian – 1
count
Officer Wendell Borom has resigned. Officers Thomas and Hester are on investigatory leave with pay pending the outcome of the Department of Correction internal investigation into this matter.
The allegations of sexual misconduct at the prison surfaced approximately six weeks ago, at which time the Division of Prisons asked the SBI to investigate. Today’s arrests are the result of the cooperative efforts of the State Bureau of Investigation, the Division of Prisons and the Wake County District Attorney’s Office.
