Rewards offered for capture of escapees RALEIGH – Today, Correction Secretary Theodis Beck requested that the State issue reward money in each case for the capture and conviction of escaped inmates Danny O’Neal Richardson and Demetrius Donnell Harris. Governor Michael Easley has authorized the request. Richardson, a 28-year-old Native American, is serving a 48-year sentence for convictions of rape, kidnapping and burglary in Nash County. Harris, a 26-year-old African American, is serving a 17-year sentence for a second degree murder conviction in Durham County. Richardson and Harris escaped Friday night from Nash Correctional Institution near Rocky Mount by scaling two fences topped with razor wire. The search for the pair is still underway. The State is offering reward money up to $5,000 for each inmate, for information that results in capture and conviction. Anyone having any information regarding the location of these escapees can contact the Department of Correction at 1-877-532-0010 or the State Bureau of Investigation. # # # |
