Crow named superintendent at Lincoln Correctional Center LINCOLNTON - Secretary Theodis Beck has named John Crow as the new superintendent at Lincoln Correctional Center, effective September 1. He replaces Steve Boyles, who was named correctional administrator of Western Youth Institution on July 1. "I am confident that John Crow will be an effective leader for Lincoln Correctional Center," said Beck. "His experience and his background in programs will serve him well as superintendent." After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1985, Crow worked at Cleveland Community College, teaching adult basic education at Cleveland Correctional Institution. In 1987, he officially began his career with the Department of Correction as a program assistant at Cleveland Correctional Institution. He moved up the ranks at Cleveland, serving as a program supervisor and program director, before being named assistant superintendent in 2003. After spending his entire career at Cleveland, Crow is excited about his new job at Lincoln. "I’m excited about the challenge," he says. "I look forward to the opportunity to work with the people of Lincoln as superintendent." Crow lives in Shelby with his wife, Betsy, and their two children.
