Opening events planned for new Anson County prison POLKTON - Correction Secretary Theodis Beck will dedicate the new Lanesboro Correctional Institution on November 18 at 11 a.m. Construction is complete and the Division of Prisons plans to begin moving inmates in to the 1,000-cell close-custody facility in late December. The prison will employ about 400 people including correctional officers, administrative, food service, medical, dental and maintenance staff. Prison staff will conduct tours of the new facility following the dedication ceremony. News media representatives interested in a tour should be present at the main entrance and should bring a valid photo ID. In addition, a Community Open House be held on Saturday, November 22 from 10:00 am until 3:00 p.m. and on Sunday, November 23 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. This will be an opportunity for the public to view and tour this modern prison facility, before it is occupied by inmates. Public tours will be available both days along with information regarding employment opportunities at Lanesboro Correctional Institution.
