Carolina Vence recognized as 2005 Probation/Parole Officer of the Year
“Carolina has been instrumental in holding sex offenders accountable”, said David Guice, a chief probation/parole officer and Vence’s supervisor. Vence collaborates closely with therapists who provide treatment for sex offenders and regularly participates in treatment group sessions. She has made presentations to law enforcement classes at the North Carolina Justice Academy in Edneyville, N.C. on investigation/interrogation of sex offenders Vence speaks fluent Spanish and also supervises a caseload of Spanish-speaking offenders. She has volunteered her time to help interpret in court, at courthouse agencies, the Henderson County Jail and assists fellow officers with their Spanish-speaking offenders. Vence was born in Florida and lived in several countries while she was growing up. She received her bachelor’s degree from Lenoir-Rhyne College and a master’s degree from Western Carolina University. She resides in Hendersonville. Governor Michael Easley has proclaimed July 17-23, 2005 Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Officers’ Week in recognition of more than 2,000 community corrections officers who supervise more than 118,000 criminal offenders in North Carolina communities.
