Sanford escaped inmate caught | |||
| SANFORD - Department of Correction officers captured Inmate Clarence Evans Jr. at 12:55 a.m. Friday at a hotel on U.S. Highway 421 in Sanford. He has been placed in segregation at Harnett Correctional Institution and will face a felony escape charge. He was reported missing at 7:50 p.m. Thursday by another inmate who saw him scale one of the prison's fences. Evans, 26, was serving a maximum sentence of approximately 1 year 4 months for crimes including possession of a firearm by a felon and speeding to elude arrest.
