Three escaped inmates captured in Elizabeth City

ELIZABETH CITY - All three inmates who escaped from Morrison Correctional Institution have been returned to custody. Inmate Richard Ames was arrested by Elizabeth City police officers around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Shortly before midnight Thursday, Department of Correction officers located the stolen white semi cab parked in Elizabeth City and found inmates Joseph Caulder and William Bullard inside. They were arrested without incident.

All three inmates will face felony escape charges, plus charges for stealing the truck. There may be additional charges for other crimes they committed while on the run.
