Escaped inmate captured in Cleveland County

BOILING SPRINGS - Corrections officers captured inmate Nathan Tyler at 6:05 p.m. Friday.   Tyler had escaped from a highway litter squad at noon on Thursday while working along NC Highway 150 near Boiling Springs.

The owners of a barn on Beechwood Rd. in Cleveland County saw Tyler as he emerged from the barn and headed into nearby woods.  They alerted authorities and corrections officers with a bloodhound tracked Tyler a short distance into the woods before capturing him.  Tyler was caught about three miles from the spot where he left the work squad.

 Tyler, 37, is serving a maximum sentence of 1 year, 8 months at Lincoln Correctional Center for robbery and breaking and entering convictions in Columbus County.
