Family Day at Wake Correctional Center

RALEIGHWake Correctional Center will offer inmates and their families a day of fun and relationship building during Family Day at Wake Correctional Center on Sunday, June 13.

Families will participate in a wide range of events designed to open a dialog and begin the process of healing, reconciliation and recognition.   Music will be provided by the Wake Correctional Center band – Free Spirit, and Choir – New Life.

“Many times incarcerated offenders leave prison to reintegrate with their families with little or no transition opportunities.  Wake Correctional Center is providing that positive transition opportunity,” said Acting Superintendent Anthony Perry.

Perry said the event is provided at no cost to the taxpayer since inmates raise funds through various events during the year.

“These fundraising events give offenders leadership and planning experience – and the importance of community over self.”

The event is not open to the public for security reasons. For additional background information or to schedule interviews call Angela Smith, Wake Correctional Center Assistant Superintendent for Programs, at (919) 733-7988.
