Missing inmate found in Caldwell County

LENOIR - Corrections officers from Caldwell Correctional Center and Division of Prisons' dog handlers found inmate Joseph Courtner (#0509765) Saturday at about 12:30 p.m. hiding in a mobile home in Lenoir.

Courtner was part of a minimum-custody crew picking up litter along N.C. Highway 18/Morganton Boulevard Friday when the supervising correctional officer saw him run into the woods.

Courtner was serving a 10-month sentence for driving while license revoked and resisting an officer. He is currently in segregation at the minimum-security Caldwell Correctional Center in Lenoir where he now faces escape charges.
