Missing inmate surrenders at Asheville prison

ASHEVILLE - Inmate James Dockins #0524562 turned himself in just before 12:30 p.m. today at Buncombe Correctional Center.

Dockins, 38, failed to return to the prison Friday evening after finishing his work release shift with an Asheville wood products company.

He will face felony escape charges for his four-day absence from prison.

Dockins was convicted as a habitual felon and was serving a maximum 10 years and 11 months in prison. He had been scheduled for release in May 2011, but now faces additional prison time for the escape charge.
