Search underway after inmate fails to return from work release job

ASHEVILLE - Corrections and law enforcement officers are seeking inmate James Dockins #0524562, who failed to return Friday to Buncombe Correctional Center. Dockins finished his work release shift at approximately 3:30 p.m. at WNC Pallet in Candler, but did not board a van to return to the prison with other inmates.

Dockins, 38, was convicted as a habitual felon and sentenced to a maximum 10 years and 11 months in prison. He was due for release in May 2011.

Buncombe Correctional Center is a minimum-security prison for men in Asheville. It houses approximately 180 inmates.

Anyone with information on Dockins' whereabouts is asked to call Buncombe Correctional Center at 828-645-7630 or call your local police.
