Secretary Keller to read to Fayetteville students
Joins Governor Perdue, others for Read Across America

RALEIGH – Correction Secretary Alvin Keller will read to kindergarteners at Alger B.Wilkins Elementary School in Fayetteville for a special Read Across America (http://www.nea.org/readacross/) program at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.  Supported by Gov. Bev Perdue, the initiative will send the First Gentleman, Cabinet Secretaries and other North Carolina leaders into classrooms across North Carolina.

Keller is a Fayetteville resident and former Marine lawyer, prosecutor and judge, who has served as Secretary of Correction since January 2009.

Read Across America is an annual program of the National Education Association that coincides with the birthday of Dr. Seuss, one of America's best-loved authors of children's books. The NEA calls for every child - from pre-school to high school - to be reading in the company of a caring adult.

Alger B. Wilkins Elementary School is located at 1429 Skibo Rd. in Fayetteville. Interested media should check in at the main office when arriving at the school.
