Greene, Lenoir, Wayne counties have new probation manager

GOLDSBORO - Probation veteran Cynthia Sutton has been named manager of Community Corrections District 8, which covers Greene, Lenoir and Wayne counties.

In her new position, she oversees a staff of 80 probation officers and support personnel who supervise more than 3,460 offenders on probation, parole or community supervision across the three counties. She succeeds Jennifer Heath, who retired.

Sutton has served since 2003 as a chief probation/parole officer in Greene County. Her probation/parole career began in 1989 in the former Wilmington Pre-Release and Aftercare Center. In 1995, she was named an intensive case officer in Kinston.

She is a Kinston native and a 1988 graduate of N.C. Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She is also retired from the U.S. Army Reserve.
