Bland Tapped To Head 29th District
HENDERSONVILLE-
Micky Bland will now oversee five counties as the new manager in the 29th
Judicial District, effective March 1. In his new position he will supervise over
60 employees and about 2,500 offenders in Henderson, McDowell, Polk, Rutherford
and Transylvania counties.
"I hope to continue the good harmony and working relationships with staff and with all state agencies," said Bland. He also hopes to bring the Community Justice Partnership Program to Rutherford County, the only county in his district that does not offer the program.
He joined the Department in 1973 as a program assistant in the region office in Rutherford County. In 1977, he became program supervisor at Western Youth Institution. A year later he became a probation/parole officer in Rutherford County. He also served as an intensive officer and chief probation/parole officer before becoming manager of Judicial District 27B (Cleveland/Lincoln counties) in 1999.
Bland says he was born and raised in Spindale where he serves as a town commissioner. He is married and has one son. When he has time Bland enjoys working in his yard.
He replaces Randy Eggen who retired in October.
